MBA in International Development
With the collapses in Wall Street and the unethical behavior of bankers therein, the MBAs graduates are looking for alternative career pathways.
One option would be joining the international development sector. This sector focuses on millennium development goals rather than profit goals. The international agencies like the World Bank, ADB, UNDP, UNICEF, USAID, DFID, AusAID, SDC, GTZ, JICA among others hold governance and the rule of law in high esteem, rather than just following the corporate laws. It encourages rural development rather than product development. Lastly it discusses citizens scorecard instead of customer satisfaction scorecard.
So how does the generic MBA holders now fit into the international development sector? Yes, you are right the MBAs fit into the development sector like fishes out of the water.
Almost 7 years ago, the TLCA Community mooted the idea of designing a MBA curriculum that will train MBA graduates to work in the backstreets and back waters (i.e. slums and rural areas) rather than the Wall Street. At that time, the idea received lukewarm response. But with the recent transgressions of Wall Street, the MBA for the backstreet (i.e. International Development) is now popping up in academic discussions.
Recently three emissaries from an esteemed Chicago university discussed with the TLCA Community on launching an MBA Programme for Backstreet Executives. The plan is to start the MBA (International Development) Programme in a developing country. It is noted that at least 70% of professors will come with working experience in poverty reduction in the backstreets and backwaters.

It is true that with the global crisis at present, finding a job is quite difficult. In Indonesia, at present, the global crisis has affected the economy with the manufacturing sector mainly suffers. Production shift has been reduced, outsourcing employees have been laid off
With all the bailout plans by governments all over the world, I agree with the above writing, it opens the opportunity to work in international development sector.
Come on !
Its like you learn my mind! You appear to grasp so much about
